Course Unit Description
The course prepares teacher trainees in the teaching and of physics. It equips them with knowledge, skills and theories of teaching and learning and the rationale for teaching the subject. The course includes an in-depth analysis of the syllabi, scheme of works and lesson planning. It aims at using participatory approach in the teaching and learning of physics.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course, students should be able to
- Justify the teaching of physics.
- Differentiate between the various syllabi, prepare schemes of work and lesson plans for teaching physics.
- Create a positive attitude in learners of physics.
- Use learning theories to make classroom decisions.
- Teach physics using a variety of methods that motivates learners.
- Analyze the content of the physics to be taught as they prepare to physics in a particular class.
- Explain how contemporary issues can be in corporate in the physics curriculum.
- Discuss and analyze gender issues in the teaching and learning of physics
