BCT4108 Modeling and Simulation
Course Unit Title
BCT4108 Modeling and Simulation
Course Unit Description
This course aims to give students knowledge that can help them to optimize the performance and operations of computer systems that they may have designed but not implemented yet. It also gives the students a basis for testing for the optimality of projects that are being carried out for the first time.
Course Objectives
The objectives of this course are to:
- Introduce students to the methods of formulating qualitative and quantitative models using the available data
- Teach students simulation methods and tools for modelling and simulation of continuous, discrete and combined systems
- Enable students to implement and test a variety of simulation and data analysis libraries and programs.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, students should be able to:
- Explain the different types of models used in solving world problems
- Formulate and simulate various computer-based systems and applications
- Model and design systems that have never been done before, and be able to test for their viability
- Test for the optimality of the system being designed.
