Course Unit Description
This course introduces the student to the concept of rural sociology, culture and how it relates with society development. It looks at how innovations are adapted and adopted to foster development. The course also looks at extension teaching methods, techniques and devices, adult education and participatory approaches and tools. Finally the course also tackles issues to do with gender and how it relates with agricultural development.
Course objectives
- To explain the concept of rural sociology, culture, society, and gender issues in agriculture.
- To explain the extension methods, techniques and devices to educate farmers and other society groups
- To explain the various participatory approaches to extension as well as its tools.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course the students should be able to:
