Course Unit Description

The course will introduce the student to maths that is used in business especially in finance and operations management.

Course Objectives

  • To equip students with arithmetic/numerical/mathematical techniques in order to attain skills in making business decisions
  • To expose students to the application of quantitative techniques to making business decisions

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, the learner should be able to: 

  • The learner will: Appreciate the rules of numeracy
  • Be able to make and apply calculations relevant to business
  • Be able to use algebraic methods to solve business problem
  • Be able to construct and use graphs, charts and diagrams in a business context
  • Be able to apply statistical methods to provide business and management Appreciate and be able to apply the laws of probability to find solutions to business problems
