Course Unit Title
Course Unit Description
This course empowers the student to develop an overall concept and skills related to the special methods of instruction, the curriculum design and use of selected media for Physical Education and Sport in primary, secondary schools and teachers’ colleges. The course exposes the candidate to PE methodologies as well a systematic application the knowledge and skills for planning; organizing, executing, evaluating and reporting learner achievement during peer or micro-teaching sessions and where possible using real learners. To Equip the students with the skills of basic planning, organizational and managerial skills and practice of essential procedures for successful execution of Physical Education lessons.
Course objectives
By the end of this course the student should be able to:
- Relate the concepts from science to the teaching of physical education in day today situation
- Apply the concept of physical education and sports in school and community for health and related fitness
- Demonstrate the basic planning, organizational and managerial skills in the teaching of physical education
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, the student should be able to:
- Draw suitable lesson plans and schemes of work desired for delivering a competence based lesson.
- Select and source the required resources for a given PE lesson
- Deliver a planned PE lesson using the selected methodology
- Assess and give feedback to the learners about their learning progress based on triangulation as well as end of chapter assessment
